Chapter Assessment Program
The Chapter Assessment Program (CAP)* is an assessment tool that has been implemented in the fraternity and sorority community at Towson University. The assessment examines each organization鈥檚 involvement and performance in four areas including academics, chapter management, member development and community involvement.
At the conclusion of every term, each organization鈥檚 CAP portfolio is graded based on a point system. Based on the total earned points, chapters are awarded a gold, silver, bronze or needs improvement status.
Top CAP scores for each term will be awarded to each council at the annual Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards ceremony (gold status minimum). Any chapter awarded gold status will also be eligible for the Dr. Teresa L. Hall Award Chapter of the Year Award. Any chapter currently holding a conduct sanction from the Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices will not be eligible for awards. However, individual members from those chapters may be eligible.
A new section of the chapter assessment program was added in the 2013-2014 school year. Each chapter will have to do a 10 minute presentation of the initiatives they participated in over the course of the term. Presentations are open to the public.
The Chapter Assessment Program was originally developed at the University of Delaware and borrowed with permission in 2008.
