Become a Mentor
SAGE mentors assist students with career choice, major and minor selection, course registration, identifying campus activities, employment, roommate relationships, financial aid, navigating campus and other issues as they occur. Mentors and mentees meet weekly and develop lasting relationships.
A mentor is a wise and trusted counselor or teacher or influential supporter. — Random House Dictionary 1987
SAGE program mentors serve as role models of academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, service, and caring for others. They welcome new students to the Towson University community and help them become part of the ¿ì»îÊÓƵfamily. They encourage new students to commit time and effort to their studies.
Mentors also maintain weekly in-person contact with their assigned students and inspire their involvement in campus organizations and activities. Mentors and new students are encouraged to maintain their connection to one another throughout the year. Mentors befriend new students. Both share information about their academic and career goals, family life, hobbies, dreams and work to resolve any challenges throughout the year.
