Suicide Prevention & Crisis Training

As a student, staff or faculty, you may be the first one to notice signs of distress in a student. At TU, it is our shared responsibility to look out for one another and know how to help. Below, you will find free options for valuable trainings in various formats and time commitments to meet your needs.
QPR: Question, Persuade, Refer
- Time: 60-90 minutes
- Training Provided By: QPR-certified 快活视频Counseling Center clinician
- Best for: Small groups (between 5-30) seeking training to recognize the warning signs of suicide and to assist a potentially suicidal person to get help.
- Includes: Education about suicide statistics, QPR techniques, and interactive roleplays with the intent to help you learn to question someone about concerning behavior, persuade them that there is hope and help, and refer them to local mental health resources (like TU鈥檚 Counseling Center).

Mental Health First Aid
- Time: 8 hours
- Training Provided By: Mental Health First Aid Instructor
- Best for: Individuals wanting to learn about the signs and symptoms of mental health problems including anxiety, depression, PTSD and substance abuse. You鈥檒l also learn how to approach a conversation with someone experiencing a mental health crisis.
- Includes: 2-hours of self-paced prework, online modules/workbook, active role playing, lecture and open dialogue.
