Scholarships for Current Majors

The Theatre Arts Department awards scholarships for continuing theatre students through the following endowments.

  • Charles S. Dutton Theatre Scholarship Endowment
  • Gillespie/Loeschke Scholarship Endowment
  • John Glover Scholarship Endowment for Acting Majors
  • Nina E. Hughes Memorial Scholarship Endowment
  • Christopher David Legg Memorial Scholarship
  • Peter Wray Scholarship
  • Steve Yeager Scholarship Endowment
  • Theatre Department Scholarship Endowment

The exact amount of the awards is determined yearly, and ranges from $200 to over $3,000. 

Some scholarships are for a single year, and some are renewable.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit rather than financial need. Awards are for the academic year beginning in August 2024. The money is credited to the student's expenses by semester and the recipient must meet all eligibility requirements each semester.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a major on one of the Department of Theatre Arts' undergraduate degrees: BFA in Acting or BA/BS in Theatre Arts.
  • Be matriculated at Towson University as a degree candidate when the application is made
  • Be a full-time student (minimum of 12 credit hours)
  • Have contributed significantly to the artistic efforts of the Department of Theatre Arts
