Welcome to the Towson University Symphony Orchestra page!

The Towson University Symphony Orchestra is one of the premiere ensembles in the Music Department, showcasing the talents of over 75 students from all across the instrumental spectrum, including strings, winds, brass and percussion. The ensemble is dedicated to the exploration and renewal of beloved Classical works, in addition to uplifting contemporary pieces and those by underrepresented composers.

Membership in the 快活视频Orchestra is by audition, composed of undergraduate and graduate students pursuing music degrees, as well as passionate non-majors. The orchestra performs two major on-campus concerts per semester, as well as additional special performances both on campus and in the greater community. Highlights of concerts in the community in recent years include a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC and a tour to New York City!

In the course of a semester, orchestra members will learn major orchestral works under the tutelage of highly experienced musicians through regular rehearsals, sectionals, side-by-side performances and performance checks. Students can expect to develop their ensemble skills--listening, section unity, matching, reacting--while making gains in their individual goals on their instrument.

In recent years, the orchestra has performed symphonies by Beethoven, Dvorak, Schubert and Tchaikovsky, as well as works by David Maslanka, Georges Bizet, Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Duke Ellington, and many more.

Course Schedule: Tuesdays/Thursdays, 3:30pm-5:20pm.
