Mijoo Kim joined the Towson University Physical Education faculty in the Department of Kinesiology in 2021. She was a physical education teacher and department chair in secondary schools in South Korea. As a teacher educator she believes reflection and application are essential for preparing future physical educators. Dr. Kim’s teaching interests include both physical education teacher education and the sociocultural aspects of physical education. She is passionate about preparing students to be influential physical educators and removing students’ barriers to increase the physical activity of all students, especially those who are often marginalized in classroom spaces. Dr. Kim’s specific research interests focus on the intersection between race, gender, and physical activity. Her current research explores teachers’ and students’ beliefs about girls’ physical activity.
