Jacob Bustad (Ph.D.) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at
Towson University and joined the Sport Management faculty in 2014. His primary research
and teaching interests are in the fields of sport management, physical cultural studies,
the sociology of sport and urban studies. His research has been published in international
journals such as Cities, Qualitative Research in Sport, Exercise and Health, International Journal of Sport Communication, and The International Journal of the History of Sport.
Dr. Bustad鈥檚 research explores the relationship between urban development, planning,
and policy and sport and physical activity at various levels from major sport events
to everyday recreation experiences. His work with Sport Management students focuses
on preparing students for success in the sport and recreation industry, including
developing global experiences in the classroom as well as via study abroad programs.
